Tinnitus is an auditory perception, which is not produced by any external stimulus. This condition is commonly defined as roaring, whooshing or hissing sounds either in a single ear or in both ears. This is called as tinnitus aurium. The intensity of the sounds can vary from single tone to multi-tonal sound with no tonal quality.
