The purpose of this research is to determine physicians’ perceptions on the benefits or barriers of using electronic medical records system (EMRs) and how it’s adoption impacts their medical practices dramatically in regards to the potential legal and ethical issues. This study is also to focus on the costs of the adoption of EMR system in physician practices in the Los Angeles and South Bay areas. To achieve these results, a cross-sectional mail survey of family and multi-specialty physicians (n=51) was conducted. The overall responses rate was 43%.
